It’s that time again – to plan your attendance at the 11th Girgarre Moosic Muster… coming up fast on Friday to Sunday, January 6-8, 2017!

Once again we have a phenomenal number of workshops compared to the half dozen you find at other festivals. We have 30 to be exact, and that does not include the many jams and singalongs.

This year we have a fantastic focus on guitar – and all those lucky guitarists can choose from beginners, advanced beginners, intermediate, 12-string, bass guitar, bluegrass style, blues style and country style – whew!

Then there are workshops on banjo, ukulele, harmonica, double bass, mandolin, violin and percussion, along with the hugely popular harmony singing and (this time) singing in rounds.  But playing music is also about starting out, understanding musical theory, songwriting, stagecraft and engaging your audience when performing, and these aspects will be well covered as well.

Two more new workshops will outline how to care for your instrument and how to store songs on your iPad.

“Junkstruments” – instruments made from recycled materials – will be featured at this muster, along with the ever-popular jokes competition,  poetry writing, gospel and 60s singalongs as well.

What a treasure trove to get our skills moving into high gear, thanks to the hard work of workshop coordinator Di Burgmann and her band of top-notch presenters.

And of course all the workshops and evening concerts are free.  So be there with us – January 6- 8 at Girgarre Town Hall and Park.  centrefold-programme-2017
