Girgarre Moosic Muster 2018

Tuning up plans for a brilliant 12th Girgarre Moosic Muster

     Making Music Magic!

Thursday to Sunday, January 11-14, 2018

It’s on again!  Only four months to go to another burst of music-making, fun and good times at the 12th Girgarre Moosic Muster!  Make sure you lock the date in.

The big news is we are expanding open mic into Thursday!   So many supporters are turning up days ahead of the muster and looking for somewhere to perform or listen. Taking to the stage is the best way to build confidence, too.  So we are opening the Town Hall from 1pm to 3.30pm on the Thursday. You can do two songs, the earlier you give your name to the MC, the earlier you get on stage.

Other open mics will be on Friday, 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm.

The Friday night concerts on both stages will become invitation concerts, with the Saturday night concerts, as usual, being filled by featured bands.

MORE fabulous workshops are in the pipeline, including sea shanties for the first time! And possibly the tin whistle!

Once again we will have a big emphasis on ukuleles, a bonus for all the keen players who turned up in their hundreds the last time we offered them special tutorials.

There’s close to 40 workshops on every instrument or musical aspect under the sun, thanks to the endless hard work by workshop coordinator Di Burgmann and the generosity of our expert tutors from near and far.

Our session last year on how clean and efficient it is to store songs on your tablet,  versus lugging around sheets of paper, is on again.

Harmony singing, the biggest crowd-puller of all, is back of course, as are our 60s singalong, song writing (with the chance to perform your creation the next day), poetry writing and our hilarious joke competition.

Our Girgarre Muster  – where all music sessions are completely free of charge –  calls itself the most affordable and friendly acoustic festival in Victoria.

We offer bluegrass, folk, blues, country, pop, gospel and contemporary music. You can enjoy free evening public concerts on two stages, workshops, continuous jamming, a free junior muster for primary children, and even free instrument loans.

Girgarre, located between Echuca and Shepparton, is a half-hour drive from each.

Muster venue is the air-conditioned Girgarre hall and park in Winter Road. Camping at the site incurs a small fee which includes three meals and full use of amenities over the entire muster period.

The highly popular Girgarre market takes place on the Sunday at the site, with bands playing.

The full program including band announcements will be posted here soon.
