A PROUD HISTORY

The Girgarre RSL is a small Non-Licensed Traditional Sub-Branch that is quite active in the local community. Girgarre RSL is proud of its history and its contribution to the broader local community including local organisations, local sporting groups and clubs and educational sponsorships.

Our mission statement is 'Preserving our Military Heritage and looking after the Welfare of service and ex service personnel and their families.

WHAT WE HAVE DONE

Sponsored awards for the Giants
(Girgarre/Rushworth/Stanhope) junior footballers.
Sponsored Junior Best and Fairest Awards for the Girgarre Football and Netball Club.
Sponsored the Girgarre Primary School excursion to the Bendigo Discovery Centre – a hands on science centre.
In 2009 installed an impressive Cenotaph.
Major renovations of RSL building and extension for a memorabilia display.
World War I enlistments picture gallery and service records (in Memorial Hall).
Mural on shop wall next to RSL hall (Station Street).
Panel Display in Progress Park – dedicated to commemorating the 'Closer and WW1 Soldier Settlers' and their pioneer role in the Girgarre and Stanhope North district (Station Street).

WHAT WE ARE DOING

Girgarre Moosic Muster Catering support
RSL BBQ at the Nov Farmers Market - with thanks to the generosity of the Girgarre CFA.
Annually sponsor children to the Portsea Children’s Camp.
Many RSL members of the Girgarre community are also active members of other organisations such as the Girgarre Development Group, Girgarre Living History, CFA, Gargarro Project & the Community Cottage.

25 Feb 2018 Unveiling display dedicated to 'Closer and WW1 Soldier Settlement'

Girgarre and Stanhope North from 1.30pm at Girgarre RSL. Followed by an afternoon tea in the Girgarre Memorial Hall.

25 April Anzac Day Dawn Service 6am

followed by a free sausage sizzle and viewings of the RSL Memorabilia room.

25 April Anzac Day Golf and Bowls Tournament. Valley View Golf and Bowls Club Curr Rd Kyabram. Golf 12 noon. Bowls 12.30pm.

11 Nov Remembrance Day Memorial Service. 11am. Followed by a free sausage sizzle and opening of the RSL hall and Memorabilia room.
